Skiing for all levels

Croix Fry is the nearest ski station to the chalet and connects up directly with the challenging reds and blacks of Etale, the Aiguille and Le Balme mountains. Many World Cup champions have been brought up on the Aravis slopes at La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand and both resorts are traditional Savoyard villages linked by a 7 min trip in the ski bus.

Croix Fry itself is a great area for families and those learning to ski (the chalet owner can attest to this as a middle aged learner).

The skiing area

The chalet is 13 minutes by car from Croix Fry at an altitude of 1477m and from here you can ski into the heart of the La Clusaz ski fields. Croix Fry is at the very right hand side of the piste map displayed below. Along with Le Grand Bornand, the Aravis ski area totals over 200 km of pistes at altitudes ranging from 1100m to 2,500m. The skiing at La Clusaz covers 5 mountains and features many varied reds and black runs along with easier blue runs. The views over the Aravis range are impressive from almost every run and from the top of Le Balme, you can see over the Megeve valley to the Mt Blanc massif. There are also great views from the Beauregard plateau (a sunny spot perfect for beginners and sun seekers). Both La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand feature snow parks and the "Milka" run through the trees on the main slopes above La Clusaz will entertain children of all ages.

From Croix Fry you can circumnavigate the entire 5 mountains of the La Clusaz skiing area in a highly enjoyable day of varied runs and fantastic scenery.

You can purchase an Aravis ski pass which covers the entire region or limit yourself, depending on ability to a La Clusaz pass and details are on the websites for La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand below.
